VIP day for landmark City fans

VIP day for landmark City fans

Two Leyland-based Leicester fans have been photographed holding the FA Cup and the 1966 World Cup Final football as a celebratory treat.

Why? Because Keith and Liz Owen, once of Stoney Stanton near Hinckley, Leicestershire were the 100,000th official visitors to the National Football Museum in Preston, Lancashire and were given VIP treatment according to City's Official website.

Keith, now 57 and retired, has followed City since he was 14, and persuaded his wife to follow suit when they married in 1992. They still attend matches home and away.

Being photographed with the World Cup football was particularly special as it is the only ball in existence to have been involved in a World Cup final hat-trick.

The Owens, whose attendance allowed the Museum to pass its visitor target for the year set by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Football Foundation, were also presented with a copy of the Museum's acclaimed book Football's Greatest Heroes: The National Football Museum Hall of Fame, which details all of the inductees in the Museum's Hall of Fame.
