Cox Interest Withdrawn?

Leicester have withdrawn their interest for Swindon Town striker Simon Cox according to Sky Sports News.

After appearing as though the 22-year-old was on the verge of joining Nigel Pearson's Foxes, it now seems as though Leicester have withdrawn their interest after it is understood that Swindon wanted a fee of around £2.5m for the player.

Cox was the highlight of an otherwise disappointing season for Swindon in League One last season, as he found the net 32 times last season in all competitions.

The news will disappoint many Leicester fans, who hoped that Cox would provide Matty Fryatt with some much-needed competition up front.

Whether or not Cox will remain at the County Ground this summer remains to be seen, but with one club already put off by his price-tag, don't be surprised to see him remain in a Swindon shirt next season.

not prepared to take a £2.5 million gamble then!

It's a bigger gamble for our board at Swindon. We don't have to sell him but it would be daft to lose him on a free transfer next year (unless he does the 1 year contract extension like what Sam Parkin did). However, I honestly believe he'd reject Leicester because he's keen to remain in Reading.

Signing a Swindon Town striker doesn't show the ambition you guys need anyway. Some 6-7 sides are going to have a tilt at promotion this new season. Are Foxes content to coast on at this level?

Just because he plays for Swindon doesn't mean he wouldn't be good at Championship level though does it? He's only a young player...
