Wellens Bid Knocked Back?

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has failed in his attempts to sign Doncaster midfielder Ritchie Wellens according to the Daily Mail. Pearson has allegedly lodged a £1m bid for the ex-Manchester United player, but that was rejected by the Championship side.

Wellens, 29, came through the United ranks in the same side as John O'Shea and Wes Brown, and has since played for Blackpool, Oldham and Doncaster after failing to make it with the European Champions.

The newspaper report that it would take an offer in the region of £1.5m to persuade Doncaster to part company with the classy midfielder, who has enjoyed success with the Rovers since his move to the club in 2007.

Best signing you could make.

I don't think Rovers will let him go for anything less than £1.5m if thats the asking price. We told Birmingham to get lost when they was offering £1.5m for Matt Mills in January so we don't need the cash. We are no longer a club that needs to sell its best players.
