Lee Morris was missing again, goalkeeper Rab Douglas hardly distinguished himself and Leicester City's first team "strengthened" reserves lost 3-1 to Southampton at Hinckley last night.
In what was City's last home game of the reserves' season, two goals by Dexter Blackstock and another by Adam Lallana, all in the second half, did the damage.
Louis Dodds replied for Leicester with a 1-1 equaliser crafted by Levi Porter.
Elvis Hammond was lively, bringing two excellent saves from Michael Poke, the second after he had actually rounded the 'keeper and six minutes from time Scott Lycett had a goalbound shot blocked on the line by his own teammate.
Leicester, with Hammond, Tiatto, Sylla, Hamill and Douglas from the first team squad, laid seige to Southampton's goal at times but the visitors, with very few chances, scored three goals and Douglas did his chances of an early return to first team duty no good at all.
CITY: Douglas, Magunda, Brevett (Mattock 73), Porter, Lycett, Norval, Sylla (Gradel 69), Tiatto (Wykes 45), Hammond, Dodds, Hamill
Subs (not used): Logan, Smedley
SOUTHAMPTON: Poke, James, Bale, Gillett, Lancashire, Cranie, Dyer (Dutton-Black 40), K. Jones, Surman, Lallana
Subs (not used): Condesso, Z. Jones, Sparv, Thomson
