Leicester City midfielder Matt Oakley has been named League One player of the month for January.

The Leiceser City captain beat off comptition from Aaron Wilbraham (Mk Dons), Gary Hooper (Scunthorpe) and Mark Yeates (Colchester) to claim the award.

He said: 'I am very pleased to win the award. I have been taking a bit of stick from Lloyd Dyer and Andy King about them scoring more goals. So I am glad to have got the first award on the board!'

'The team has been doing very well and I am enjoying my football at the moment'.

Leicester play Swindon at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday.
