'If It's Football, It's Vital'

London trips just capital for City

A 2-0 away win over Fulham Reserves took Leicester City Reserves' improved form to one defeat in six matches tonight and completed a recent club treble in the capital.

It was a happy return to his old club for occasional first team striker Elvis Hammond who collected City's second goal after prolific striker Louis Dodds had given City an interval lead with a free-kick which deflected into goal off the Fulham defensive wall.

Leicester's win was thoroughly deserved and came after recent Academy victories over Tottenham and Arsenal which gave City a combined aggregate win of 9-1 in the three London visits.

One disappointment was right winger Max Gradel's failure to make it six goals in six reserve team outings.

There was a Leicester debut for England Under 19 youth international James Walker from Charlton who showed glimses of ability but was largely overshadowed by the Hammond.

There was also another barely veiled endorsement of Rob Kelly's management when Reserves coach Steve Beaglehole told the OS afterwards: There is a great spirit at this club which spans all the way from the top to the bottom.

'There is a real feeling of unity and it is a great place to be.'

City: Conrad Logan, Jay Smedley, Adam Wykes (Joe Mattock 85), Levi Porter, Scott Lycett, Connor Franklin, Max Gradel (Andy King 70), Louis Dodds, James Walker (trialist), Elvis Hammond (Eric Odihambo 85), Joe Hamill.

Subs not used: Carl Pentley, Tom Tejan-sie.
