Barry Hayles has returned to Leicester after his loan spell with Cheltenham.
Hayles, who came off the bench to score a last gasp winner against Colchester recently, had been on loan with the League One side but as this has ended and an agreement with Leicester couldn't be reached so he has returned to his parent club.
Cheltenham manager Martin Allen, formerly with Leicester, said that he wanted to keep the veteran: 'I wanted to keep him and Barry wanted to stay but we couldn't do a deal with Leicester,' Allen told BBC Radio Gloucestershire. 'We've got budgets to work to and there are other areas of the team I want to try and strengthen.'
The 36-year-old scored three goals in his seven-match spell, with these goals coming in his last three appearances for Cheltenham. He also had to sit out three matches following a sending off against Millwall.
