This is what Nigel Pearson had to say to lcfc.com after our 3-2 Carling Cup defeat against Fulham on Wednesday 'Of course we come away from Craven Cottage incredibly disappointed - but there were plenty of pluses to take out of that game tonight.
'It took us a little while to get into it, but I was delighted with our performance in the second half. We went about it the right way and caused them a heck of a lot of problems.
'In all honesty I think that we probably deserved to nick it on the night - but we didn't and we have now got to draw a line under it and move on.'
Pearson refused the suggestion that it might have been a fitness issue, with Fulham's greater fitness seeing them able to come back from 2-1 down to win it 3-2 late on, he merely gave them credit but is now preparing for our next match against Cheltenham on Saturday 'It wasn't a fitness thing - unfortunately we just couldn't see it through. You have also got to give Fulham a lot of credit for the way they have kept going right until the end.
'I am very disappointed that we are not in the next round - but we have got to live with it and move on. We have now got a very important game against Cheltenham Town on Saturday to prepare for.'
2,000 City fans made the trek to London for the cup-tie and the City gaffer also had plenty of praise for them 'I thought the support tonight was absolutely tremendous - as it has been for all of the games since I arrived at the club.
'We have got a lot of young players in our squad and the fans give all of the lads a massive boost.'
