Doncaster looking to sign James Chambers

James Chambers is a transfer target for Championship side Doncaster Rovers.

Doncaster gaffer Sean O'Driscoll has admitted that they have been given permission to speak to the former West Brom, Cardiff and Watford defender and his versatility is something that he very much likes about the player.

Gone now and leaves us a bit short of full backs. Apparently he had a release clause in his contract so there may have been little the City management could have done about it. He's never had a regular first team place and probably seems himself more likely to get one at Doncaster than City, even though they're in the Championship. For me a little work on Chambers' passing and he would have been an excellent right back. Whatever, we'll need some cover. O'Neill and Cox are promising youngsters who can both play right-back, O'Neill being particularly impressive in the friendly against Quorn. But whether they could step up to first team level this season is another matter.

I'd not heard of a release clause, but you could be right. We'll miss him, but I think we can cope.
