Pearson talks about our defeat against Birmingham

This is what Nigel Pearson had to say to the Leicester Mercury after our 3-2 defeat against Birmingham on Tuesday evening 'The lads were sitting in the dressing room absolutely gutted at losing the game, even though it was a friendly with no points at stake, and it shows how they feel about what we are trying to do.
'We were good going forward but not so good in dealing with set-pieces, but that is something we can work on and I am confident that will be sorted by the time the season starts.
'We played some good stuff against a team who will be among the favourites to get back to the Premier League next season, but I am not feeling totally satisfied because we lost.'

I think it is fair to say that for City deserved to come away from the Walkers Stadium with a draw, but Pearson is pleased that despite it 'only' being a friendly the players were disappointed, as he sees this as a good thing. He also said that when the season begins again that is when it really will matter and this match is another match closer towards this.

Pearson Added 'With pre-season games there is always the temptation to read too much into them. I think the most important thing is that when the season starts, I will know what my best 11 is.
'There is work to be done but there is still time to do it and instil a winning mentality into the squad, so it was a good sign that they were so disappointed.
'They know deep down we have given away a result and are feeling bad about it, even though in one sense it didn't matter.
'But in the other sense, every game matters. There is always professional pride at stake.'
