This is what Nigel Pearson had to say to lcfc.com after our 1-1 draw with Luton on Tuesday evening 'It was another good work out for us and I am pretty pleased with the night's work.
'Luton gave us a stern test and while we did miss a few chances, for me the most important thing was that the game acted as another building block on the way to the start of the new season. That's what it's all about.
'We did well for the first half an hour then they had a spell when they were on top but I am aware of where we are at as a squad at the moment and the remaining two weeks of pre-season are going to be vital for us.
'There were plenty of encouraging points on the night particularly the move for the goal but there are also things which need tweaking to the limit the opposition's chances.
'But it was a worthwhile exercise. My players must understand their role in the side and be in the right mental state to go out week in, week out and perform. I am confident that will happen.'
The City gaffer also had some words of comfort and encouragement for Luton and their gaffer Mick Harford, after their recent docking of an obscene 30 points in a Football League ruling 'I thought Luton played pretty well and I'm sure Mick would have been pleased because as a club they've taken a lot of knocks recently and I for one wish them all the best for the season,' Pearson added.
'They've got a very difficult task ahead but if they play with that sort of spirit then they'll stand a chance.
