Leicester City's Fixtures Released

Leicester City's fixtures for the forthcoming campaign in League One
for the first ever time were released earlier today.

City face a tasty opening encounter at The Walkers Stadium against Paul Ince's MK Dons on Saturday 9th August. The last time the two clubs met, we were promoted to the Premiership under Micky Adams and the name MK Dons did not exist, they were known as 'Wimbledon' at the time. The last time the clubs met, City ran out 4-0 winners in the first year of The Walkers Stadium with Paul Dickov scoring a hat-trick and Trevor Benjamin getting the other. Only David Connolly and Steve Howard have managed to score hat-tricks since.

Another eye-catching fixture is the boxing day clash at Elland Road with Leeds United. There is still a massive on-going rivalry between the two clubs and it would be sweet for City to nick a result in what could turn out to be an important fixture in the chase for promotion for both clubs. The last time the two clubs met it resulted in a 1-1 draw with Iain Hume grabbing the goal for City.

The first away day for the City faithful is against Stockport, who we will face only 5 days before in a first round home tie in the Carling Cup.

Darren Moore's signing for you in the morning if his post on our forum is to be believed...

If Moore signs it's going to look mighty crowded in the centre-back department especially as The Mirror suggests Gareth McAuley's rumoured move to Ipswich might not now happen. Ipswich have completed the signing of 21-year-old 6 ft 3 inch Dutch centre-back Pim Balkestein for an undisclosed fee from Heerenveen. And with The Mirror reporting that the McAuley transfer has stalled and that Ipswich are now plotting a £1.75million raid for Cardiff City captain Roger Johnson you have to wonder if the McAuley deal will go through at all. You cannot imagine that not having a manager would help eiher with transfers in or out and fears are already increasing that the off-field problems will give us a pre-season handicap we could well have done without.
