O'Grady commits to the future

Yet another piece of Leicester City's commitment to youth jigsaw was safely fitted into place today when striker Chris O'Grady signed a new two-year contract.

O'Grady a 20-year-old who has earned a regular place in City's first team match squad lately, has committed himself to the club until the end of the 2007/08 season.

His signing follows that of two other former Academy youngsters, Alan Sheehan and Levi Porter who also accepted new contracts recently.

Nottingham-born O'Grady recently returned from a loan spell with Rushden and Diamonds where he made 20 starts and scored four goals for the Division Two outfit.

Former manager Craig Levein noticed the improvement he had made and now new manager Rob Kelly says: 'He is very much part of our future'.

O'Grady has been used particularly towards the end of matches as a substitute and has shown himself to be of great value by holding and retaining possession either centrally or in wide positions.

Meanwhile veteran Plymouth left-back Rufus Brevett will not be joining City on loan. The club had enquired about a one-month arrangement but this was not considered suitable by the Pilgrims.
