'Abandoned' game rearranged

When is a win not a win - when a match is abandoned with the result apparently standing and then gets re-arranged.

Leicester City Reserves Premier Reserves League fixture with Ipswich Town Reserves was abandoned earlier this month due to floodlight failure after 73 minutes and with Leicester leading 1-0.

It was known the result would have to be ratified but it was believed that Leicester would be declared the winners because more than an hour of the match had been played.

In fact the match will now be played at the City training ground at 2-00pm on Tuesday, April 18 according to the TWTD independent Ipswich Town website.

Leicester City chief executive Tim Davies explained that it was his understanding that Ipswich originally accepted the result but on reflection wanted to rearrange the game "as is their right"
